“Fossil-Free” applies when JVAB develops the park areas in Hagastaden
Battery-powered machines are gaining ground, albeit quietly, and fossil-free projects are on the rise in Sweden and the Nordic region. Together with equipment suppliers and our neighboring countries, we have the broadest fleet of battery-powered machines, and when JVAB lays the foundation for Norra Stationsparken in Hagastaden, Stockholm, the battery-powered machines of the future are being developed.
The chill in the air doesn’t stand a chance when the October sun beats down. JVAB has shown the same strength and pace in laying the foundation for the central park areas in Hagastaden. This Hagastaden —with 6,000 new homes and 50,000 jobs—will serve as the link between Stockholm and Solna. Right next door to Karolinska, the focus has been on creating walking, biking, and park environments. That, and minimizing the environmental impact as much as possible during the construction period.
– We’ve been working in Hagastaden for several years now, and during that time we’ve rented tracked and wheeled battery-powered excavators, battery-powered loaders, and all kinds of small battery-powered machines from Renta. Together with Renta’s equipment suppliers, we also have the opportunity to test battery-powered machines that aren’t yet on the market. And our feedback is the basis for, for example, the future 500 battery-powered excavator,” says Micael Engström, site manager at JVAB.
Norra Stationsparken is one of the City of Stockholm’s major park projects
The phase that JVAB is now finalizing is on schedule, and the work is progressing smoothly. This is primarily because the client is so closely involved at all times—as is often the case with large projects—but also because they have been working on the Hagastaden project for a long time.
“The ability to make quick decisions is important for efficient progress, and we have that here in the Hagastaden project. I feel the same way about Renta, where there are never any issues with getting battery-powered machines.” I feel that Renta is aware of the great need for quieter machines that are more environmentally friendly and safer for workers,” concludes Micael.
The goal is for all park areas in Hagastaden to be completed by 2030.
