We’re now using Alrik
Alrik is the mother of smart logistics and provides our shipments with more than 100 real-time data points. That might sound like a lot, but thanks to this, we can report all of our emissions—which you’re also required to report. This way, we meet all legal requirements. At the same time, we can work smarter when it comes to our deliveries to you.
It’s Monday, and in the equipment rental industry, it’s the most important day of the week: that’s when everything has to be delivered to the job sites. Some machines have been booked in advance, others have just been booked, and when Linda is loading a machine, it often happens that a new one is booked right before she has a chance to leave the depot. A couple of months ago, our transportation logistics switched to Alrik, a digital and smart logistics service, and with 100 active shipments at any given time, we’ve gained an incredible overview and the ability to work even smarter.
“It always takes time to get used to new systems, but Alrik has been responsive to the adjustments we’ve needed to make for our business.” That said, some customers haven’t gotten used to being able to see when we’re on our way, so they still call and ask where I am. But that’s just nice, says Linda Wikman, farm manager and driver at Renta Uddevalla.
Why are we implementing this system?
We can now report exact figures in real time, plan consolidated shipments, and provide you, our customer, with ongoing updates on expected delivery times. You’ll receive a text message when we’re within 30 minutes of your location, and you can always track the truck on its final leg of the journey. When it comes to CO2 reporting, we can break down emissions by customer and project, providing you with precise data for your sustainability report. But first and foremost, we do this to streamline our own operations—now the entire depot has complete visibility into shipments, and we can plan even more effectively.
“Tony (in-house sales rep in Uddevalla) always knows where I am anyway, but it helps others at the warehouse and our sister warehouses to know where I am and whether I can pick something up on my way out or on my way home. It already feels like we’ve always used the system,” Linda concludes.
