No one can do everything, but everyone can do something

Children and cancer don’t belong together. Neither do breasts and cancer, or the prostate and cancer. And yet it’s a reality that many of us face—both those affected and their loved ones. Learning about the struggles that Alicia and her parents have gone through shakes us out of our everyday routines. Because everyone can do something.

One of Sweden’s premier golf courses, Vasatorp GK in Helsingborg, is waiving the green fee, and the seriousness of the occasion is palpable during breakfast. AjaBajaCancer supports families whose lives have been turned upside down. Here, your donation will be converted into gift cards that the families can apply for. At their nearest ICA, at the ice cream truck, or for a bag of seeds at Plantagen.

“When we both went home to be there for Alicia, all our savings went down the drain. 300 kr for the ice cream truck was all we could manage that whole month,” says Daniel Nilsson, who lost his three-year-old daughter Alicia in February 2025.

Alicia was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma when she was one year and nine months old. This is a form of cancer that affects about 20 children each year and most often develops in the abdominal area. A year and a half later, she passed away in her parents’ arms. Daniel, Alicia, and Alicia’s mother are not alone in losing a child to childhood cancer. A child is diagnosed every day, and about 15 percent do not survive their battle. Daniel continues to fight childhood cancer in various ways.

“By being transparent about this, our story can help others, because every small donation is needed and means so much to these families,” says Daniel.

Why We Support

We can’t change what has happened, but we can learn from it. We don’t want to lose any more children, women, or men. So every year, we get involved in these issues to remind ourselves and each other that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Put whatever amount you choose in whichever collection box you choose for whichever cause you choose. You decide. Just do something.
