Emma from the Education Department is here to make us the best in the class
Lars-Erik Kindström has done more for the equipment rental industry than can be covered in an article intended primarily to highlight his successor. Standing on the shoulders of this giant, Emma Karlsson now looks out toward a new horizon for our training program—for Rentakademin. She has set her sights high, fueled by her drive, and has already visited more than half of our depots.
January 7 was yesterday, and yet it wasn’t. Barely four months into her position, she has already traveled the length and breadth of the country, meeting with us, talking with us, and inspiring us on how we can become even better at offering the right education at the right time.
“I get a lot of energy from getting out and meeting everyone. There’s so much wisdom in our organization, and now I’m going to make sure all our depots have the right conditions. Customer safety is our top priority, and all the workplace accidents that happen every day can be reduced through a series of measures.” I’m absolutely convinced that training is one way to help ensure more people return home the same way they arrived at work,” says Emma Karlsson, training manager at Renta.
“I hate cooking”
The girl who used to love horses and gymnastics has become a soccer- and hockey-loving mom who never misses a chance to talk about the idyllic life in her hometown of Mossebo.
– Don’t go writing that I don’t like food, because I really do. It’s just the cooking part. It’s more fun to come up with something fun to do instead. In Mossebo, there are tons of fun things to do for creative people. Everyone here is social—you have to be in the countryside. It’s exactly the same at Renta. Here, everyone makes decisions on a daily basis, and everyone is creative when it comes to finding solutions. Because sometimes we say yes here without having a clue how we’re going to figure it out. Three days later, we’ve figured it out anyway, says Emma.
So how do you become the best in the class?
Renta Machine Rental is an ambitious company that once set out to challenge the industry giants, but has now become a giant in its own right—one that focuses primarily on continuing to care about every single, truly every single person who comes our way. So we’re setting our sights high to simply get better at training, but how exactly are we going to do that?
– The industry is full of “yes-men,” so training is a natural part of the business; of course, it can be difficult for us—whether in a small town or a large city—to provide relevant training to our customers. That’s why I’m here to make that process seamless. “We’ll be the best in class if we remain humble—recognizing that every depot has its own unique circumstances—and then we’ll make sure to meet those needs and make it really easy to find and book the right training,” Emma concludes.
