Malmö’s best location—in a real dump
The Otto Magnusson Construction Company has had the honor of making available this gem of a home in Malmöostronet: Skimra. Site manager Niklas Kassam has meticulously planned the temporary storage of all materials and precisely when the machinery will be in place. With the detailed plan finalized, what is considered the most challenging lot in Pågasta is set to become the most beautiful residential development.
Spring has just arrived in Öresundsstaden, and both a crane and a completed foundation slab are visible along Citadellskajen. Here, the family-owned construction firm Otto Magnusson is building the well-designed and spectacular apartments that will make the entire neighborhood sparkle. The crowning jewel of a neighborhood that will be completed with this project. Here, along the car-free waterfront promenade, you can look out over Kungsparken and Malmöhus Castle. At the very top of the building soon to be erected, spacious penthouse apartments will serve as the jewels in this crown.
“It’s easily Malmö’s best location—but we’re building on a piece of junk. Joking aside, it’s really cramped, and if we didn’t have two canals on either side, we’d have new neighbors moving into the newly constructed buildings next door. The sheds are set up over the canal, and I don’t think I’ve ever had such a detailed project plan as I do now—all so we can fit everything in while still getting our work done,” says Niklas Kassam, site manager for the Skimra project at Otto Magnusson.
The base slab is now being poured
For the “Pearl in the Oyster” project, 2025 is the big year for concrete pouring, and 2026 is the year for the beautiful interior work. As we speak, there are only a couple of cubic meters of concrete left before the foundation is complete, and after that, work will begin on pouring the structural frame.
– Well, it’s almost time to send some machines back and time to get some new ones. “Here, I use your digital service, Renta Easy, as a project management tool and can choose with the click of a button whether we’ll return the machines ourselves or if you’ll come pick them up,” says Niklas.
The slab is poured, the zoning plan is in place—and you can’t help but feel a little envious of the new neighbors who get to see it all up close.
“Yes, but at the same time, they probably want to enjoy the peace and quiet and the waterfront promenade, so we do everything we can to take up as little space as possible. It works when you’re prepared,” Niklas concludes.
