Maths Andersson is now heading home to Sisjön
Time just goes by faster and faster the older we get, and all of a sudden, there we are: the day we clock out of working life and into retirement. Maths Andersson has helped build Stål&Hyr—later renamed Renta—into the company it is today, and now he’s retiring.
It’s a beautiful day in May 2005, and the Kungsbacka depot is just two months old. But in the workshop, the machines need some TLC, and that’s where Maths Andersson steps in.
“There were only five of us back then. Everyone was a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, and we quickly got the machines up and running,” says Maths.
Over the years, the warehouse and the business have grown. Around spring 2009, Maths took on the role of workshop manager, and since then he has led the operations, first in Kungsbacka and, since 2013, in Sisjön. That was when Stål&Hyr’s expansion led the company to the Sisjön industrial park, and several employees from Kungsbacka moved with the company to Sisjön.
“We were trained in Kungsbacka on how to run the business, and several of us who came up here with the team are still here today. In fact, we have very low employee turnover here at the depot.” “For me, it’s mainly been about how everyday life is so varied and different anyway, so I don’t need to move around,” says Maths.
Machines on the one hand—personal contact on the other
Everything comes to a head on that final day: the commotion, the farewells, and a few well-chosen words. Both customers and suppliers have made these 19 years enjoyable, and that’s what Maths will miss the most.
“The banter and warmth from my colleagues, the solutions from our suppliers, and the gratitude from our customers. That’s certainly something I’ll miss. But my grandchildren will probably give that a run for its money,” says Maths.
One of the people who stopped by on Maths’s last day was Claes Sjösvärd (a sales representative at Würth), who came by with a gift. Maths received a basket of treats from his colleagues and, from us as a company, a gift card for something close to his heart.
Now, boating, fishing, and his grandchildren await Maths. We wish him good luck with his fishing and thank him very much for all these years.
Five Retiring in 2024
This year, five of our employees have retired, and we’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank Hans Larsson (Vimmerby), Conny Jönsson (Hässleholm), Leif Andersson (Karlstad), Sven Berglund (Rosersberg), and Maths Andersson (Sisjön). Thank you very much!
