Together Against Cancer

Every day, 20 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 27 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. We see each other—and you—every day, and we don’t want to lose anyone else. We wear a pink ribbon in October and a mustache in November. Together, we’ll stop cancer.

Stefan Fröding (formerly Svensson) spreads joy and good cheer both at the depot and out in the field. But when prostate cancer is mentioned, his tone grows somber, and another—oh, so important—side of Stefan comes to the fore.

“Ever since I was 8 years old, prostate cancer has been a major part of my life. I’ve never had it myself, but my grandfather and uncle passed away from the disease, and my dad was diagnosed—and survived.” “I started getting checked regularly when I was 35, and every November I wear a mustache as a reminder,” says Stefan Fröding, a sales representative at Renta Jönköping.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 3

But thanks to all the fundraising efforts over the years that have provided funding for research, 9 out of 10 people diagnosed with cancer survive. The Cancer Foundation works to reduce the number of people diagnosed with cancer and increase the number of survivors. By supporting their work, we help fund leading-edge research, spread knowledge about cancer, and influence policymakers on these important issues. That’s why we support the Cancer Foundation’s vital work every October.

The Fight Against Sweden’s Most Common Form of Cancer in Men

With its vision of “a future without prostate cancer” and thanks to everyone’s contributions over the years, the Prostate Cancer Foundation has awarded over 85 million kronor in research grants to Swedish prostate cancer research. Throughout the year, they advocate for better prostate cancer care and spread information and knowledge about the disease. And during November, some of us grow mustaches as a reminder of their important work.

Stefan’s Tips

  • Sit down when you urinate—it reduces the risk of prostate cancer
  • Get a PSA test—it’s easy (a blood test at the health center)
  • Grow a mustache and remind everyone of those who have lived with and those who are living with the disease

Together, we can defeat cancer.
