Welcome to the Challengers: Renta
Kari Aulasmaa grew tired of how the pursuit of numbers had turned the equipment rental industry into an impersonal profit machine for a select few. Six years later, Renta operates in small towns and larger cities across five countries. With no headquarters, no central control, and no small group of winners. With us, everyone bakes and eats a piece of the pie.
Our entire philosophy is rooted in a commitment to the local community, in personal interactions, and in our deep dedication to every single construction project. After all, we’re nothing without the people who rent our equipment. That’s why we do everything we can to serve our customers—our number 10. With seamless coordination through a wide range of equipment and a high level of expertise, service tailored to your needs, and everything—truly everything—for the team. Because construction is a team sport.
Local Decisions
Of course, our depots are supplied with branded clothing, and our CEO sets goals with each depot manager. But it’s the customer (and the purchasing department) who decides which machines we’ll have, and it’s the service technician, the salesperson, and the carrier who determine how and what we’ll deliver. And whatever’s left over, we split it.
We hope more people will copy our concept
We’ve seen the results, and today we’re a billion-krona company with even broader ambitions. We want to sponsor more sports clubs and help builders of all sizes—from the smallest to the largest—keep their machines running. If they’re idle, you’ll see it in the app, and we’ll come out and pick them up; if you need a machine tomorrow—it’ll be delivered before breakfast. It’s all about blurring the line between “mine” and “yours.” Everything is created together, and when we realize we’re on the same team, we’ve got each other’s backs without even thinking about it. Then we roll up our sleeves and get to work, no matter what your company or you are called.
