New Owner for Renta Group

We are pleased to announce that Intera Fund II Ky (“Intera”), Renta’s principal owner, has signed a binding agreement to sell Renta Group Oy to IK Partners (“IK”), a private equity investor. IK is working with management to drive Renta into its next phase of growth.

The company’s management will remain a significant owner of the company, and all shareholders who are still active within the company will be offered the opportunity to reinvest alongside the new owner. Renta’s management team has committed to making significant reinvestments.

Renta Group is a machinery rental company with more than 100 depots in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Poland. The equipment it offers meets a wide range of customer needs in the construction, infrastructure, and industrial markets. The company also offers modern construction machinery, scaffolding, and weather protection services, in addition to other services such as temporary piping and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, as well as installation and planning.

Renta plays an important role in improving sustainability in the construction and infrastructure markets by enabling a more efficient and sustainable use of equipment and machinery. Renta is also known for being a reliable partner, with a broad customer base that values high-quality machinery and equipment, availability, and service. The company leads the industry with its agile strategy and significant investments in innovation and digital tools to improve the customer experience and internal fleet management.

Renta was established in 2015 following the merger of three well-known Finnish companies. Since then, Renta has grown significantly through the organic growth of its branches, a series of new openings, and strategic acquisitions. Today, Renta employs over 1,000 people in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Poland.

IK Partners (www.ikpartners.com) is a privately held European firm focused on investments in the Benelux region, DACH, France, the Nordic countries, and the United Kingdom. Since 1989, IK has raised more than 14 billion euros in capital and invested in over 155 European companies. In the next phase of the company’s journey, IK will ensure that management is further strengthened in the Baltic Sea region and begin expanding into Europe through additional new office openings alongside new digital solutions. The group will continue to be led by Kari Aulasmaa, CEO, and his team.

Kari Aulasmaa, CEO of the Renta Group, says: “We’ve had a fascinating journey with Intera to create a modern, leading equipment rental provider in the Baltic Sea region. It has been a privilege to work with Intera’s team, and we are grateful for all their support over the past few years. Now it’s time to move forward, and I warmly welcome the IK team to continue this journey with us. We will have a lot to do in terms of developing digital and sustainable rental services, along with expanding our operations into new geographies. I am convinced that IK, with its international networks, is the perfect partner for Renta as we move into the next phase of our development.”

Alireza Etemad, a partner at IK and advisor to the IK IX Fund, says: “We are very pleased to partner with Kari and the team at Renta Group on the next stage of their journey. Renta plays a key role in developing and improving sustainability in the construction and infrastructure markets in the Baltic Sea region, with its highly localized and digital strategy for equipment and machinery rental, and we look forward to supporting the team as they expand their network and develop their digital platform in new and existing markets.”

Christoffer Zilliacus, a partner at Intera, commented: “Renta’s management team and Intera joined forces in 2015, and it all began with the management team’s strong vision of what a modern rental company should look like. Today, Renta is an established and rapidly growing player operating in the Nordic region and Poland, with nearly 300 million euros in revenue. The clarity of the original vision, along with the professionalism and dedication of the entire Renta team, have been fundamental to the company’s success. It has been an incredible journey and a true pleasure to support Kari and his talented team in building Renta into what it is today. With the support of the IK team, Renta is very well positioned for its next phase of growth, and we look forward to seeing the company’s continued success.”
