Two new players join the Luleå team

Luleå has two new team members— Tayah Burrows and Renta Equipment Rental. We usually call ourselves the challengers, so naturally we wanted to challenge Luleå Basket’s newest addition from a height of five meters. If you’ve never seen anyone shoot a basketball from a scissor lift, now’s your chance.

No one up here in Norrbotten can fail to notice that Luleå is expanding. One project that will undoubtedly put Luleå on the world map is the Luleå Industrial Park. “The green industrial revolution” is expected to be completed in 2030.

– The world wants green, carbon-neutral steel, sustainable graphite anodes for the car batteries of the future, and smart minerals for future technological development. All of this—and more—is now becoming a reality right here. An industrial cluster is emerging that is developing new, world-leading innovations. In other words, we’ve only just begun, as Luleå Industripark itself states on its website.

Luleå’s population and cultural life are growing, and there are major plans to improve and develop public spaces. Among other things, a new residential area will be built here, divided into six blocks with new walking paths and cafés. Along the waterfront promenade, space will be created for play, activities, gathering places, and lovely park areas. The focus is on creating an even better everyday life for the residents of Luleå. Of course, we’re here to support that effort.

Signed from Australia to Norrbotten

From summer in Australia to the middle of winter in Norrbotten. In January of this year, Tayah Burrows was signed by Luleå Basket from the NBL1 club Mount Gambier Pioneers in Australia. Tayah has SBL experience from her time with Östersund Basket.

– Tayah is a player who caught my eye during her time in Östersund. She played very aggressively and created a lot of good opportunities around her. Above all, she’s a player who fits our style of play, but she’s also a very versatile player who can help us in many positions, both defensively and offensively,” says Reidun Holstad Johansson, sales manager at Luleå Basket.

Luleå Basketball—A Positive Force in the Community

Luleå Basket has been part of the Luleå community since 1979 and has become a leader in Swedish elite basketball. Over the past decade, they have proudly brought home eight Swedish Championship gold medals (all won in the last ten years)—an achievement that truly defines the people of Luleå’s passion for the sport.
The club is involved in community engagement and charitable initiatives under the banner “Basketball Unites.” They actively work to integrate newly arrived children and their parents, giving them a positive introduction to club life and basketball.

“We’re not partnering with Luleå Basket just to get some exposure through them or to have a tired sign on the wall.” “We want to grow and win alongside Luleå Basket and give back directly to the grassroots and the winning culture here in the team and the city,” says Magnus Wennberg, regional manager for Renta in northern Norrland.

The Showdown: Stina from Renta and Tayah from Luleå BBK

We’re proud to be establishing ourselves in Luleå. We’re even prouder of our partnership with Luleå Basket, and we were thinking about the best way to get to know each other better. Then our imaginative regional manager, Magnus, came up with the idea of bringing a scissor lift into the Luleå Basket Arena, where Luleådepån’s inside sales rep, Stina, didn’t hesitate to take on the challenge of facing off against pro basketball player Tayah in a duel.

“Scoring from ground level isn’t a challenge, but I’ve never before thrown the ball five meters above the ground and tried to hit the basket,” says Tayah.

Would you also like to try throwing a basketball from a height of several meters? You’re more than welcome to stop by our location at Depåvägen 3, and we’ll load it onto your scissor lift.
