Värmland’s fitness guru is our new site manager in Karlstad
For twenty years, she has been selling ergonomic furnishings for construction sites and completed buildings, as well as running Värmland’s most popular workout groups. Then she stumbled upon a job posting (spoiler: ours), and now Malin Lundqvist is set to create Värmland’s best workplace. Because, as we know, it all starts from within.
The first snow has settled like a blanket over Värmland, and inside the Karlstad depot, we find someone who’s already started working on the sly. Our new site manager can’t wait to get up to speed on the rental system, service queues, and the Renta strategy. Malin was once on track to become a lawyer but chose to travel and experience the world instead. When Karlstad finally called her back home and she was set to resume her studies, she’d rather meet people in settings other than the courtroom. Instead, she started Fysall, where hundreds of people promise each other—and themselves—to train like crazy for 60 days (spoiler 2: that’s Malin’s secret business idea; annual memberships are just nonsense). Over the years, Malin has come to know every twist and turn of the road in this shimmering fairy-tale landscape.
“I love interacting with people and what a team can achieve together. I’m driven by good business deals, where both the customer and I are completely satisfied with what we’ve agreed upon,” says Malin Lundqvist, site manager at Renta Karlstad.
“If we’re having fun—then our customers will have fun, too.”
Malin likes the industry’s straightforward approach and fast pace, where there’s no room for frills, and she enjoys being involved from the drawing board to turnkey completion. She enjoys being part of the process of building a community. We’ll see how the depot in Karlstad develops going forward—but no matter what, it all starts from within. If you and I are doing well, then the customer is doing well.
– Everyone’s personality is important, and we should make the most of each other’s strengths. Of course, there are certain things that have to be done a certain way, and we should certainly respect that. However, the issues that arise in our day-to-day work are our decisions to make, and we’ll figure out the solutions together. I constantly strive to be inclusive and try to create a positive atmosphere, because if we’re having fun—then our customers will have fun too,” says Malin.
Take a Deep Breath in Jotunheimen
She unwinds in the magnificent Norwegian mountains or in front of the TV with a glass of dry white wine. You can read more about this former horse-riding enthusiast from Rud, who discovered the team during her teenage years at the floorball arena, in a 2019 article in Hammarö Nytt. In the meantime, we look forward to learning from Malin’s interior design tips and her inspiring leadership style. A warm welcome aboard!
“There’s an established group here in Karlstad that has welcomed me with open arms; now I’m going to give them my all. And for anyone wondering what will happen to Fysall, my husband will be taking it over,” Dan, and I’ll mostly just be leading the occasional workout here and there, because exercise and staying active will always be an important part of my life,” Malin concludes.
“It’s what we learn from our losses that helps us win next time.”
